Do Finnish Citizens Need a Visa for Vietnam?
As of 2026, Finnish citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 45 days in Vietnam. Finland is included in Vietnam's unilateral visa waiver program.
For stays exceeding 45 days, or for multiple entries over a longer duration, a visa is mandatory. The standard option is the Vietnam eVisa, which permits stays of up to 90 days.
The 45-Day Visa Exemption
To enter Vietnam under the 45-day visa exemption, Finnish passport holders must meet the following criteria at the immigration checkpoint:
- The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
- The passport must contain at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
- Travelers must provide proof of a return flight or an onward ticket showing departure from Vietnam within 45 days.
Upon arrival at any international airport, land border, or seaport, immigration officers will stamp the passport for a 45-day stay. There are no fees or pre-registration requirements for this exemption.
Vietnam eVisa for Finnish Citizens (Up to 90 Days)
For travel plans exceeding the 45-day limit, the Vietnam eVisa is available to Finnish citizens. The eVisa is processed entirely online, is valid for up to 90 days, and offers both single and multiple-entry options.
Fees and Processing
The official government fees for the eVisa are as follows:
- Single-entry eVisa: $25 USD
- Multiple-entry eVisa: $50 USD
The standard processing time is 3 to 5 working days. The eVisa permits entry through 83 designated ports, including major international airports, land crossings, and seaports.

Flights from Finland to Vietnam
There are no direct flights from Helsinki (HEL) to Vietnam. Finnish travelers generally require one-stop connecting flights to Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi or Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City.
Standard flight routes include:
- Qatar Airways: Helsinki to Doha (DOH) to Vietnam.
- Finnair & Partner Airlines: Helsinki to Bangkok (BKK) or Hong Kong (HKG), connecting to Vietnam.
- Turkish Airlines: Helsinki to Istanbul (IST) to Vietnam.
Total travel time ranges from 15 to 20 hours, dependent on layover duration.
