Vietnam no longer requires health declarations. Travelers must only complete a customs declaration if carrying restricted items or cash exceeding the stipulated limits.

Health Declaration Exemptions

Vietnam has removed all COVID-19 health declarations and testing requirements for international arrivals. Travelers do not need to submit health screening forms prior to or upon arrival. Entry requires only a passport and a valid visa or eVisa. Applications for eVisas must be submitted via the official National Web Portal on Immigration.

Third-party websites offering a 'Vietnam Health Declaration' or 'Pre-Arrival Health Form' for a fee are illegitimate, as these forms are no longer required for entry.

Customs Declaration Requirements

Vietnam requires a Customs Declaration form only for travelers carrying items that exceed duty-free allowances or fall under restricted categories. Passengers with nothing to declare may proceed directly through the Green Channel.

A declaration is mandatory for the following items:

  • Foreign currency exceeding $5,000 USD (or its equivalent in other currencies)
  • Vietnamese currency exceeding 15,000,000 VND
  • Gold exceeding 300 grams
  • Goods exceeding the duty-free allowance
  • Prohibited or restricted goods

Submission Process

If a declaration is required, it must be completed prior to passing through the customs scanning area:

  • Obtain a yellow Customs Declaration form from the customs desks before exiting the baggage claim area.
  • Complete all required fields accurately.
  • Present the form along with a passport to the customs officer at the Red Channel.
  • Retain the stamped declaration form, as it may be requested upon departure from Vietnam or for specific banking transactions.

Duty-Free Allowances

Travelers must adhere to the following duty-free allowances upon entry to Vietnam:

  • Alcohol: 1.5 liters of liquor (over 20% ABV), 2 liters of liquor (under 20% ABV), or 3 liters of beer.
  • Tobacco: 200 cigarettes, 20 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco.
  • Personal items: The total value of other personal goods must not exceed 10,000,000 VND.
