Vietnam Entry Requirements 2026
Vietnam has fully reopened its borders to international travelers. As of 2026, there are no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for entry. However, standard immigration and customs regulations remain in effect.
Passport Requirements
- Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival.
- Blank Pages: At least two blank pages are required for entry and exit stamps.
- Condition: The passport must be in good condition with no significant damage, tears, or unofficial markings.
Visa Requirements
Most international visitors require a visa to enter Vietnam. The most common options are:
Visa Exemption
Citizens of specific countries (including UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, South Korea) can enter visa-free for up to 45 days.
Electronic Visa (eVisa)
Available for citizens of all countries worldwide for stays up to 90 days. Applied for and issued entirely online.
Customs Rules
Currency Declaration
You must declare if carrying over $5,000 USD (or equivalent in other foreign currencies) or 15,000,000 VND.
Duty-Free Allowance
- 1.5L of spirits over 22%
- 2.0L of alcohol under 22%
- 200 cigarettes or 250g tobacco
- Items for personal use up to 10,000,000 VND
Prohibited Items
Drugs, weapons, explosives, and culturally sensitive or pornographic materials are strictly prohibited.
