Important Rules for Visa-Free Entry
Even if your country is on the visa-free list, there are important rules to be aware of:
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date
- Visa-free stays cannot be extended โ you must leave Vietnam before the allowed period expires
- If you want to stay longer than the visa-free period, apply for an eVisa before departure
- There is no minimum gap between visa-free entries, but frequent entries may attract scrutiny
- Visa-free entry is for tourism and short visits only โ working requires a separate permit
You CANNOT extend a visa-free stay once inside Vietnam. If you need more time, you must leave the country and either re-enter visa-free or apply for an eVisa.
What If My Country Isn't on the List?
If your country is not listed above, a visa is required to enter Vietnam. Citizens of all countries and territories are eligible to apply for the Vietnam eVisa online through the National Web Portal on Immigration. The government fee is $25 for a single entry and $50 for multiple entries. The standard processing time is 3-5 working days, and it permits stays of up to 90 days.
