Traveling to Vietnam with your spouse and children? Learn the specific rules for family eVisa applications and how to handle visas for infants.

The Golden Rule: One Passport = One eVisa

When traveling to Vietnam with your family, the most important rule to remember is that **every individual holding their own passport requires their own separate eVisa application.**

This applies to everyone, from the primary breadwinner down to a newborn baby. If your 6-month-old infant has their own passport, they must have an individual eVisa application submitted in their name, and the full $25/$50 fee applies.

What If My Child Is on My Passport?

If you have a child under the age of 14 who does not have their own passport and is instead included in your (the parent's) passport, they do not need a separate application.

On the official eVisa application form, there is a section titled 'Under 14 years old accompanying child(ren) included in your passport.' You can add their name, date of birth, and portrait photo directly into your application.

Very few countries still issue family passports where children are included on the parent's passport. If your child has their own passport booklet, you CANNOT use this section. You must apply for them separately.

Photo Requirements for Children and Babies

Children and infants must meet the same photo requirements as adults (4x6cm, white background).

  • The child must be looking at the camera with eyes open
  • No pacifiers, hats, or toys in the frame
  • For babies, the easiest method is to lay them on a white sheet and take the photo from above
  • Ensure no hands (from the parent holding the child) are visible in the photo

How to Manage Group Applications

The official government portal processes applications one by one. If you are a family of four, you will need to fill out the form, upload documents, and pay four separate times.

If you prefer to submit everyone at once and pay in a single transaction, you can use a group application portal like ours. This allows you to add multiple travelers, review all details on one page, and process a single payment. It ensures the whole family's applications are submitted simultaneously.
