Welcome to Da Nang International Airport (DAD)
Da Nang International Airport (Terminal 2) is one of Vietnam's most modern and efficient airports. Serving the central region, it's the primary gateway for travelers heading to Da Nang city, Hoi An Ancient Town, and Hue. For the vast majority of international visitors in 2026, entering with a Vietnam eVisa is the standard process.
Step 1: Arriving and Immigration
Upon landing at International Terminal 2, follow the signs to Immigration (Passport Control). Unlike the older Visa on Arrival system, if you have an eVisa, you do not need to queue at the 'Visa Landing' counter.
Simply proceed directly to the 'Foreign Passports' line and present: - Your original passport (valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages) - A printed copy of your Vietnam eVisa
<strong>Note:</strong> There is absolutely no stamping fee to pay at the airport for eVisa holders. The $25 or $50 fee was already paid online during your application process.
Step 2: Baggage Claim and Customs
After your passport is stamped, head downstairs to the baggage claim area. There are duty-free shops and currency exchange counters available here. Once you collect your luggage, pass through Customs. Most tourists with standard personal belongings can walk through the green channel.
Step 3: Getting a SIM Card and Currency Exchange
In the arrivals hall (after customs), you will find numerous kiosks selling local 4G/5G SIM cards (Viettel, Vinaphone, Mobifone) and currency exchange booths. Rates are generally reasonable, but it's advisable to exchange only a small amount here for immediate taxi fares and exchange the rest in the city.
Traveling to Da Nang City Center
Da Nang Airport is unique because it is located practically inside the city. The city center is only about 3-5 km away. - <strong>Grab (Ride-hailing):</strong> The easiest method. Exit the terminal and head to the designated Grab pick-up point. A ride to the city center costs around 60,000 - 100,000 VND. - <strong>Taxis:</strong> Mai Linh and Vinasun are reliable metered taxi companies available right outside the arrival gates.
Transferring from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An
Hoi An is approximately 30 km from Da Nang Airport. The journey takes about 45-60 minutes. - <strong>Private Transfer/Taxi:</strong> Costs around 300,000 - 450,000 VND. Many hotels in Hoi An offer airport pickup services. - <strong>Grab:</strong> Very convenient and transparent pricing, usually around 350,000 VND. - <strong>Shuttle Bus:</strong> Hoi An Express and other operators run shuttle minivans from the airport directly to hotels in Hoi An, costing around 150,000 VND per person.
