Vietnam dropped health declarations in 2022. For 2026, you only need to complete a customs declaration if carrying restricted items or cash exceeding limits.
No Health Declaration Required
As of May 2022, Vietnam has completely dropped all COVID-19 health declarations and testing requirements for international arrivals. For 2026, you do **not** need to fill out any health screening forms before or upon arrival. You only need your passport and a valid visa or eVisa.
Beware of scam websites asking you to pay for a 'Vietnam Health Declaration' or 'Pre-Arrival Health Form'. These are no longer required.
Who Needs to Complete a Customs Declaration?
Unlike some countries that require every passenger to submit a form, Vietnam only requires you to fill out a Customs Declaration form if you have items to declare. If you have nothing to declare, you simply walk through the Green Channel at the airport.
- Foreign currency exceeding $5,000 USD (or equivalent)
- Vietnamese currency exceeding 15,000,000 VND
- Gold exceeding 300 grams
- Goods exceeding the duty-free allowance (e.g., alcohol, tobacco)
- Prohibited or restricted goods
How to Submit the Declaration
If you are required to declare items, you must do so before passing through the customs scanning area at the airport.
- Obtain a yellow Customs Declaration form from the customs desks before exiting the baggage claim area
- Fill out the required fields accurately
- Present the form and your passport to the customs officer at the Red Channel
- Keep the stamped declaration form safe, as you may need it when departing Vietnam
Duty-Free Allowances
Even if you don't exceed the cash limits, be aware of the duty-free allowances for goods entering Vietnam in 2026:
- Alcohol: 1.5 liters of liquor (over 20% ABV) or 2 liters (under 20% ABV) or 3 liters of beer - Tobacco: 200 cigarettes, 20 cigars, or 250g of tobacco - Other personal items: Total value must not exceed 10,000,000 VND
